UC Davis has launched a nationwide recruitment for the position of Executive Director – World Food Center. We are seeking a dynamic and accomplished individual with experience building partnerships, trust, and confidence with colleagues and internal and external stakeholders. The Executive Director will provide vision, direction, and leadership for the UC Davis World Food Center. 

The Executive Director will continue to build the foundation for global leadership of the World Food Center and will be responsible for integrating and coordinating the activities of the World Food Center with other campus activities, centers and institutes. The Executive Director will lead and synergize the efforts of the Center by working across all schools and colleges to bring recognition and resources to UC Davis.

The Executive Director will leverage his or her own experience and networks with UC Davis' global leadership in research and education to further the vision and build relationships with leaders at the regional, national and international levels that will position the World Food Center to be the thought leader through research, policy outreach, and collaborations with industry and non-governmental organizations. Additionally, the Executive Director will play a leading role in generating resources to carry out the Center's vision and activities and support of faculty projects by leveraging existing resources and building strong partnerships with government agencies and NGOs.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or at least 10 years of leadership experience in the food, agriculture or health sectors; demonstrated ability for leadership and management; experience in building partnerships, trust, and confidence with the faculty, campus community, international community, and internal and external partners; exceptional written and verbal skills to communicate the vision and opportunity to non-technical and senior leadership among potential donors, policy makers, and industry leaders, and the energy and vigor to translateideas into action; skill to collaborate and work effectively with faculty to promote their research and align their interests with external leaders and partners; skill to work effectively with external stakeholders of diverse backgrounds and opinions; possession of strong cultural competencies; a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion; a record of success in obtaining extramural funding and philanthropic support; and a collaborative spirit.

He/she will possess the political acumen and diplomatic skills to forge productive partnerships. Finally, the successful candidate will share the University’s Principles of Community, which are characterized by respect, integrity, openness and responsiveness and by consultation and collaboration.
